The White Mans Burden

            The White Mans Burden is a famous poem written by Rudyard Kipling in 1899.  The White Mans Burden appeared in a significant moment, during the debate of Imperialism in the United States.  In the poem, Rudyard Kipling expressed the mission of many during his time.  This mission was for missionaries, doctors, and colonial officials believed it was their duty to spread what they saw as the blessings of western civilization.  The blessings of the western civilization included medicine, law, and Christian religion.
